How to scan multiple pages into one PDF

· Using ToPDF

Most real paperwork is more than one page — a lease, a contract, a set of certificates. Emailing eight separate photos is the fastest way to annoy whoever has to read them. Here's how to get one clean, ordered PDF instead.

Two ways to build a multi-page PDF

Add as you go: scan the first page in ToPDF, then tap Add page for each following sheet. Each page is auto-cropped and cleaned individually, which is what you want — page 3 shouldn't inherit page 1's shadows.

Or pick everything at once: if you've already photographed the whole stack, tap “Tap to choose photos” and select all of them together. They're scanned in sequence automatically; if one photo needs its corners confirmed, the scanner pauses there, lets you adjust, and continues with the rest.

The page strip

Once you have two or more pages, a thumbnail strip appears under the preview. It's the control centre for the whole document:

  • Tap any thumbnail to see that page large. Rotate and re-crop always act on the page you're viewing.
  • Hold & drag a thumbnail to move it — or use the ‹ › arrows under the selected page.
  • Tap × to remove a page. If it was a mis-tap, hit Undo in the little toast that appears.

The “Page 2 of 5” badge on the preview always tells you where you are.

Keep pages consistent

A multi-page PDF looks professional when the pages match. Scan them in the same session, on the same surface, under the same light. If one page comes out darker or skewed, select it in the strip and re-scan just that one — remove it with ×, then Add page with a better photo. The others are untouched.

Download once, get one file

The Download PDF button bundles every page — in the strip's order — into a single file. The name box above it applies to the whole document; ToPDF usually suggests one from the first page's text, and you can re-suggest from any page or type your own.

Tip: up to 20 pages fit in one document. For anything longer, split it into logical parts — “Lease-1of2.pdf” beats a single enormous file that email servers reject anyway.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on pages?

A single document holds up to 20 pages, which keeps things smooth on older phones. You can create as many documents as you like.

Can pages have different orientations?

Yes. Each page keeps its own rotation — a landscape table in the middle of portrait pages is fine. Every page is auto-oriented individually, and you can rotate any page yourself.

Can I mix documents from different photo sessions?

Yes. Add page accepts any photo from your gallery, whenever it was taken — including HEIC photos and screenshots.
