Reorder PDF pages by drag and drop (before you download)
· Using ToPDF
It happens constantly: you photograph a stack of paper, and page 4 ends up before page 2. Rather than re-scanning everything, fix the order in ten seconds before downloading.
Drag a page to its place
- Scan at least two pages so the thumbnail strip appears under the preview.
- Press and hold the page you want to move (on a computer, just start dragging). The thumbnail lifts under your finger.
- Drag it left or right — an indigo line shows exactly where it will land.
- Let go. The numbers on the thumbnails renumber themselves; the number badges always reflect the final PDF order.
Prefer buttons? Select a page and tap the ‹ › arrows beneath it to nudge it one position at a time — handy when you find dragging fiddly.
Check before downloading
The strip is the source of truth: the PDF's pages come out exactly in thumbnail order, left to right. Give it one glance before you hit Download PDF — the badge numbers 1, 2, 3… are what the recipient will see.
Common reordering situations
- Double-sided documents photographed front-front-back-back → drag the backs behind their fronts.
- A cover page scanned last → drag it to position 1.
- An appendix that belongs at the end → drag right past the last page; the insertion line appears after the final thumbnail.
Frequently asked questions
Does reordering re-process the pages?
No — moving pages is instant and lossless. Each page keeps its crop, rotation and enhancement; only the order changes.
Why does the strip scroll?
With many pages the strip becomes wider than the screen. Swipe it sideways to reach the rest; drag still works while the strip is scrolled.
Can I move several pages at once?
One at a time keeps it predictable. For a big shuffle, it is often faster to remove the stragglers and re-add them in the right order.
