Where does the scanned PDF go? Saving on iPhone and Android
· Using ToPDF
“It downloaded… but where did it go?” is the most common question about phone downloads in general. Here's exactly where your scanned PDF lands on each platform, and how to make it findable months later.
iPhone and iPad
- Tap Download PDF. Safari shows a download arrow at the top of the window.
- Open the Files app → Browse → iCloud Drive → Downloads (or On My iPhone → Downloads, depending on your Safari settings).
- Your scan is there under the name you chose — e.g. “Tenancy-Agreement.pdf”.
You can change where Safari saves downloads under Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads. Alternatively, skip the hunt entirely: use Share and pick Save to Files, choosing the folder in the moment.
Android
- Tap Download PDF. Chrome pops a “file downloaded” notification.
- Tap the notification, or open the Files by Google (or your file manager) → Downloads.
Android's share sheet also offers Drive and similar targets directly from ToPDF's Share button, which is the fastest route into cloud folders you already organise.
On a computer
Desktop browsers save into your Downloads folder by default. Chrome and Edge can be set to ask for a location each time (Settings → Downloads → Ask where to save) — worth enabling if you file documents into project folders as you go.
Name it so you can find it
Storage search is only as good as your names. ToPDF suggests a name from the document; accept it or improve it before downloading. A year later, searching “tenancy” beats scrolling through forty files called “scan (7).pdf”.
Frequently asked questions
I downloaded twice — did I overwrite the first file?
No. Browsers add a number to repeated names (“Lease (1).pdf”), so nothing is lost. Delete the duplicates you don’t need.
Can I save straight to Google Drive or iCloud?
Yes — use the Share button and choose Drive/Files as the target. That routes the PDF into the exact folder you pick.
Do my scans stay inside ToPDF anywhere?
No. ToPDF keeps nothing after you leave the page — no history, no library, no cloud copies. The downloaded/shared file is the only copy, which is the point.
