Drag & drop scanning on the desktop
· Using ToPDF
On a computer the fastest way into ToPDF isn't the file picker — it's dropping files straight from your folder onto the page. The entire window accepts drops, so there's no small target to hit.
How it works
- Open ToPDF in one window and your folder of photos in another.
- Select one or more images (JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP) and drag them anywhere onto the ToPDF window.
- They scan in sequence — auto-crop, cleanup, orientation — exactly like picked photos.
Dropping while a document is already open appends the images as new pages, which makes building a big PDF from a folder trivial: drop, wait, drop the next batch.
Small details that matter
- A drop that accidentally misses nothing — the page never navigates away to the raw image, a classic browser annoyance ToPDF guards against.
- Non-image files in a selection are ignored gracefully with a note, and the images still scan.
- Everything stays local: dropping a file into a browser page does not upload it anywhere by itself, and ToPDF has no server to receive it anyway.
Frequently asked questions
Can I drop a PDF to add its pages?
No — ToPDF scans photos and images. Its output is PDF; its input is pictures of paper (or screenshots).
Does drag & drop work on phones?
Phones do not really have desktop-style drag & drop between apps and browser pages. Use the photo picker there — it multi-selects too.
