Scan documents on iPad (big screen, better editing)
· On your device
Everything about document scanning is nicer on an iPad: the preview is huge, corner adjustments are precise, and multi-page documents are easy to review page by page. Same zero-install approach — Safari and ToPDF.
iPad-flavoured workflow
- Open topdf.online in Safari. In Split View you can put Photos or Files beside it and drag images straight in — the whole ToPDF window accepts drops.
- Or use the picker: photo library, or the iPad camera for flat-on-the-table captures.
- Review pages on the big screen; the corner editor's magnifier plus Apple Pencil is about as precise as cropping gets.
- Share to any app, or Download to Files.
iPad as the family scan station
A kitchen-table iPad is the perfect “bring me the paper” device: kids' school forms, arriving mail, receipts. Add ToPDF to the home screen and it opens full-screen like an app, works offline, and never accumulates anyone's documents — each scan ends clean.
Photos taken on your iPhone
With iCloud Photos, shots taken on your phone appear on the iPad seconds later — photograph paper with the phone in hand, then do the scanning and arranging comfortably on the tablet. HEIC from either device converts automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Does Apple Pencil help?
For corner dragging it’s genuinely lovely — pixel-precise placement with the magnifier following the tip. Not required, just pleasant.
Stage Manager / external display?
ToPDF is a responsive web app and follows whatever window size iPadOS gives it, including narrow Split View columns.
