ToPDF

Scan documents on Android with Chrome

· On your device

Android's openness means fifty scanner apps of wildly varying manners — many free ones pay for themselves with your data. Chrome plus ToPDF is the no-install, no-account alternative that keeps documents on the phone.

The flow on Android

  1. Open topdf.online in Chrome (Samsung Internet, Edge and Firefox work too).
  2. “Tap to choose photos” → pick from your gallery or shoot with the camera option your picker offers.
  3. Auto-crop, perspective fix, enhancement and orientation run on the phone; confirm corners if the editor asks.
  4. Share to WhatsApp/Gmail/Drive via Android's share sheet, or Download to the Downloads folder.

Android particulars

  • Multi-select works in the picker — long-press the first photo, tap the rest, and the batch scans in order.
  • Downloads notification: tapping it opens the PDF immediately; it's also in Files → Downloads.
  • Older/budget phones: the engine is single-threaded and modest; see the old-phone guide for expectations. It runs where big scanner apps struggle to install.
  • Data saver: after the first visit's one-time download, ToPDF works offline — no data used per scan.

Frequently asked questions

Which Android version is needed?

Any device with a reasonably current Chrome/WebView (roughly Android 8+) runs it. The limiting factor is browser version, not Android version.

Can I scan directly from the camera app?

Take the photo normally, then share it — or open ToPDF and use the picker’s camera option. Both end in the same pipeline.

Does it appear in my app drawer?

If you want it to: use Chrome’s “Add to home screen” — see the Android install guide — and it behaves like an app, icon and all.
