Install ToPDF as a desktop app (Windows, Mac, Linux)
· On your device
Browsers can “install” web apps on the desktop too: a separate window, a taskbar/dock icon, launch from the Start menu or Launchpad. For anyone processing paper weekly, it's a nice quality-of-life upgrade.
Installing
- Open topdf.online in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the install icon in the address bar (a screen with a down-arrow), or Menu → “Install ToPDF…” / “Apps → Install this site as an app”.
- Confirm — ToPDF opens in its own window and joins your applications.
Why bother on desktop
- Alt-Tab presence: scanning gets its own window instead of hiding among 40 tabs.
- Drag & drop target: park the window beside your folder and feed it images.
- Offline: flaky office Wi-Fi stops mattering.
Firefox and Safari (macOS) don't offer desktop installs of web apps the same way — a pinned tab or Safari's Dock shortcut gets you most of the way there.
Frequently asked questions
Is the installed app different code from the website?
No — same app, same on-device processing, in an app-shaped window. It updates automatically with the site.
How do I uninstall?
From the app window’s menu (⋮ → Uninstall) or your OS’s normal app removal. It leaves nothing behind beyond the browser cache, which clears with it.
